Carbon
units use a backwashing system to flush trapped sediments and other
filtered elements down the drain at regular intervals. These filters
perform the same function as a smaller cartridge based filter, but
can go much longer between changing due to the unique backwashing
feature. The chart provided below lists the various contaminants
carbon is capable of removing.
CARBON
APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
This list
should be used only as a guideline when evaluating carbon effectiveness
for the listed items. This chart simply indicates the relative effectiveness
of GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) and does not necessarily indicate
that GAC is the best technology available for each contaminant.
